Locally produced bioenergy|A combination with a future

In the last few years, energy consumption has remained static overall, and for electricity has actually gone down. In view of the increasing prices for fossil fuels and the ongoing discussions about efficient forms of energy supply, however, there is still a massive trend in the branch: Local cogeneration.

Instead of generating energy in a few central large-scale power plants, energy is being produced more and more in many smaller power plants which are close to their customers. By generating electricity and heat at the same time, known as cogeneration (CHP), significantly better levels of plant efficiency can be achieved.

These smaller power stations in particular are predestined to generate their energy products with fuels from the region: Biomass. From the region for the region – local, medium-sized companies profit from the provision of biomass fuels and long transport paths are avoided.
